Nepal made history on Monday, beating West Indies in Sharjah and winning a bilaterial series againts a Test nation for the first time ever.
After the 19-run win in the first match on Saturday, Nepal again played superb and won the 2nd game by 90 runs, taking unbeatble 2-0 lead in the 3 match series.
This is Nepal’s first series win over a Full Member, and it gives big confidence before next month ICC T20 World Cup Asia-Pacific Final, where Nepal will fight with 2 other teams for spot in 2026 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Aasif Sheikh (68*) and Sundeep Jora (63) made a 100-run stand for 4th wicket, helping Nepal to reach 173/6. Then Mohammad Aadil Alam bowled amazing, taking 4 wickets, as West Indies all out for just 83.
This was the biggest win by any Associate team over a Full Member. Skipper Rohit Paudel said he was very happy:
It took alot to beat a Test playing side, and winning series in just 2 games feels so nice. We wanted to show the world our cricket and talent. In last 2-3 years many eyes are on Nepal, and we want to continue and play more againts Test nations.
“We hope to finish with clean sweep and take this momentum into qualifiers for 2026 World Cup.”
The 3rd and last match will also be played in Sharjah on Tuesday.
